What is Indian Remy/ Chinese Remy/ Malaysian Remy etc. hair?

Remy hair, also called cuticle hair, is the highest quality human hair you can find on the market. The cuticles of the hair are all intact and aligned in the same direction. This reduces the chance of tangles and matting, and this is what makes Remy hair a step above the rest.

Indian Remy hair is sourced in India, while Chinese Remy hair is sourced in China and Malaysian Remy hair is sourced in Malaysia. Chinese Remy hair is slightly thicker and heavier than Indian Remy hair. It holds a curl less well, but falls very straight and sleek. This makes it especially suitable for straight styles. Malaysian hair falls somewhere in between Indian and Chinese hair.

Can this hair be styled with curling irons, roller sets, beauty products etc?

Remy hair can be styled and set just as you like. However, we do not recommend colouring, perming or blow-drying, or using a hood dryer on your lace wig (because this can shrink the lace cap). It is best to let your wig air-dry on a wig head/wig stand. Also, do not flat-iron the hair on a high heat setting. Never use hot combs/pressing combs.

Can I colour and/or perm the hair on my wig?

Most human Remy hair has already been processed to achieve a particular colour and/or texture, so we do not recommend colouring  or perming it, and we do not accept any responsibility for the results of any chemical services (e.g. colouring or perming) done to the hair after purchasing it from us.

Synthetic hair cannot be coloured or permed.

What lace is best for me - French lace or Swiss lace?

French lace is more durable than Swiss lace and it is the best choice for new lace wig wearers. French lace tends to last longer, but is still thin, delicate and natural looking.

Swiss Lace is more undetectable than French lace, because it has smaller holes. It is slightly more fragile than French lace.

Overall, both French and Swiss lace look extremely natural as the lace seems to disappear into your scalp when applied.

How long will my wig last?

It is impossible to give a general answer to this question. A lace wig unit can last for any period from a few months to a few years, depending on how you treat it and how often you wear it. The types of glues that are used during the application method also affect the life span of your unit. If you plan to wear your wig more often, the natural need for a new unit will become greater as the hair naturally degrades due to extended periods of use. Generally, if you wear a lace wig on a daily basis, it is recommended that you own at least two or three wigs, in order to reduce wear and tear inflicted on each wig.

Can I wear this wig even if I have my own hair?

Yes. You will have to make your own hair as flat as possible, by wrapping, braiding or cornrowing it. Then apply a scalp toned stocking cap over your natural hair to simulate your scalp colour, or use the sleeping cap and bandage method to mimic a natural scalp underneath your wig.

What if I have experienced severe hair loss due to an illness or chemical damage? Is this type of wig right for me?

Definitely, very much so! We highly recommend this system for anyone with any kind of hair loss or undergoing chemotherapy.

How do I apply/remove my wig?

Please refer to the instructions for application and removal here.

My wig is not sticking down. What am I doing wrong?

Here is a list of possible problems:

1. You are not applying the tape/glue to an area that is completely hairless (i.e. you are applying it on top of your own hair)
2. Your skin is not well prepared (i.e. cleansed with alcohol and treated with scalp protector)
3. Your wig is too small, particularly the front to nape measurement, and/or ear to ear across back of the head
4. The glue or tape is not right for your body chemistry - you may need to try another one
5. The wig is too large for you (this can also cause problems when adhering)
6.You are not letting the glue dry long enough
7. When adhering, some of your own hair is coming in between the tape and the lace.
8. You are using too much glue.

Which glue or tape should I use?

If you are new to lace wigs, we recommend Dalyn Waterproof Adhesive, Davlyn Green Waterproof adhesive, or Ultra Hold adhesive. Toupee wearers and lace wig veterans like Oil Resistant White glue, which seems to be most suited to individuals with dry and sensitive skin. If you perspire a lot or live in a warm climate, we generally recommend using a combination of glue and tape. For lace wig newbies, no-shine tape is the most suitable tape, as removal and cleanup is easier than blue liner tape. For more experienced lace wig wearers who need a super-strong hold, it is recommended that you try combining blue liner tape with one of the Davlyn adhesives or Ultra Hold.

How do I care for my wig?

Please refer to the care instructions here.

My wig needs to be repaired. Do you offer this service?

Yes, we can detangle and recondition hair as well as repair tears in the lace cap. Unfortunately we do not offer reventilation, i.e. we cannot add any hair to your wig, unless the wig was purchased from us.

How do I sleep in my wig?

For straight hair, we recommend tying it into a loose ponytail and wearing a sleeping cap. For wavy and curly hair, we recommend braiding it into a single braid and wearing a sleeping cap, then loosening the braid in the morning and spritzing the hair with water.

How often should I wash my wig?

We recommend washing it at least once a week. Styling products quickly build up in the hair and can cause it to matt and tangle. Combing through tangles will cause your wig to lose hair. Washing will keep your wig looking and behaving better, and prolong its lifespan.

How often should I seal the knots on my wig?

You should seal them after every wash, when the wig is completely dry.

Can I swim in my wig?

We do not recommend immersing your wig in chlorinated water (such as is found in swimming pools) or in saltwater. Chlorine and salt are very drying to your hair. The hair on your lace wig needs more moisture than regular hair because it is no longer attached to a scalp and therefore is no longer being supplied with the nutrients and moisture that it needs. Chemicals such as chlorine and salt strip moisture from hair and can quickly lead to matting and tangling. If you go swimming, try not to immerse the wig in water, or wear a swimming cap.

How long does it take to  receive a custom wig?

Custom wigs take between 5 and 8 weeks to produce.
